Well-Pressure-Control-Unit

Well-Pressure-Control-Unit

The GeoSys Well-Pressure-Control-Unit is employed in the oil and gas exploration industry in order to operate boreholes that are under high pressure. Through this control unit, the insertion of logging tools, without the leakage of harmful gases, is facilitated.

The Well-Pressure-Control-Unit is a large pipe construction which can be installed vertically onto the borehole, which is under high pressure. The upper part of the construction consists of the Cable Wiper and the Grease Head Injector. The logging tool is put into the Lightweight Lubricator, which is located below the Grease Head Injector. In order to lower the logging tool into the well, all valves between the Lubricator and the borehole are opened. Consequently, the pressure in the Lubricator equals the borehole pressure. Thus, the logging tool can be lowered into the borehole. During this whole operation the Cabel Wiper and the Grease Head Injector avoid a leakage of gas through the cable port.

In order to retrieve the logging tool from the borehole, the tool is being pulled up into the Lightweight Lubricator. Following, all valves below the Lubricator are being closed. The excess pressure in the Lubricator is being discharged, which is necessary to retrieve the logging tool from the Lubricator.

Well-Pressure-Control-Unit

Construction

The lubricator is composed as follows from bottom to top:

BOP – Blow – Out Preventer
This device ensures that no harmful gases are discharging into the environment.

Tool Trap („Sondenfänger“)
The Tool Trap is a safety device which protects the logging tool from falling into the borehole.

Quick Test Assembly
This device enables a quick and easy validation of pressure seals.

Lightweight Lubricator
The Lubricator facilitates the collection of the logging tool and can be extended or shortened through the utilisation of pipes.

Head Catcher
The Head Catcher is another safety device in order to protect the logging tool from falling into the borehole.

Grease Head Injector
This device enables a complete sealing around the cable.

Kabelwischer
The Cable Wiper facilitates in conjunction with the Grease Head Injector the sealing around the cable.
